Festival Special Trains: 392 special trains will run on festivals from 20 October to 30 November. Indian Railways has released a list of 196 pairs i.e. 392 special trains in view of festivals. These special trains will run between October 20 and November 30. The Railway Ministry said in a statement that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the rush of passengers during the upcoming festive season. These special trains will run between destinations like Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow etc. to cater to the high demand on Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, Chhath Puja.

In Tuesday’s order, the Railway Board said that these trains will run at a speed of at least 55 km per hour. Regarding their fare, the Railways says that the fare will be the same as the rest of the special trains. These festival special trains will run only till 30 November. Ticket booking facility for these trains will be available both online (from IRCTC website) and PRS ticket counters.

Railways have banned all regular passenger train services from 22 March due to Covid 19 epidemic. However, according to the demand and requirement, at present, Railways are running more than 300 special mail / express trains regularly in the country. Since September 12, 80 additional trains have also been run, which have been named clone trains. IRCTC has announced the resumption of private ‘Tejas’ trains from October 17. Tejas Lucknow-New Delhi and Ahmedabad-Mumbai services were stopped 7 months ago due to the Covid 19 epidemic.

Even after November 30, 2020, these trains will continue to operate. This decision will be taken later considering the number of passengers. In the 196 special trains, there are eight trains in the account of Eastern Railway and a total of 16 trains in the bag of South Eastern Railway. There are a total of 24 trains including Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway, which will open from Howrah, Sealdah and Kolkata. All these trains include trains running to Mithilanchal.
