Cancellation of Final Year Exams | SC to hear plea against UGC Circular

SC seeks response from UGC: Cancellation of Final Year Exams is the most searched news on the Internet. Some Guidelines issued by the UGC on 6 July, which directed that all the universities/ colleges will conduct final year Examinations. The Supreme Court on Monday asked a response from the University Grants Commission (UGC) on petitions seeking cancellation of final term examination due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Many of the students who have challenged this are COVID-19 positive. The plea stated that family members of some students are tested positive. So, exams should not be conducted in this situation. As UGC said, all other years will be given marks on the basis of previous performance.

World Final – Year University Examinations 2020 Cancelled?

The petition filed by students from 13 different states & Union territory pleaded that the examination should be canceled. The results should be calculated on the basis of internal assessment. The students have referred to the CBSE model where the choice of sitting for exams was given to students. But they are also not satisfied with their results.

The UGC submitted that out of the 818 universities, 209 have already conducted an examination, and 394 are planning to conduct it.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing UGC, submitted before the court that the response will be filed by 29 July
