Crackers banned this Diwali ; Fire crackers will not allowed in 12 districts including Lucknow and Varanasi till 30th. In view of the smog and air pollution in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has banned fireworks in 12 districts including Lucknow and Varanasi. This major decision has been taken due to air pollution and corona infection.

Following the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the government has banned the sale and use of firecrackers in 12 districts including Lucknow and Kanpur. The government has ordered this ban to remain in force till 30 November.

The order issued by Chief Secretary RK Tiwari said that fireworks were banned in Lucknow, Kanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Varanasi, Meerut, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Gautam Budhnagar, Baghpat and Bulandshahr due to poor levels of air pollution. It has been decided to apply. People in these districts can celebrate Diwali using digital, laser and other modern technology. In other districts of the state, only green crackers will be allowed to be sold and used.

The NGT report cited Air Quality Index (AQI) as poor in terms of air pollution in Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Varanasi, Meerut and Hapur as very poor and Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Baghpat and Bulandshahar in severe category. Is placed in Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Avnish Kumar Awasthi said that only green crackers will be allowed to be sold in the districts where AQI is better or better.

Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Avnish Kumar Awasthi said that besides using digital and laser technology, people have also been instructed to encourage use of green crackers. He has asked all the districts to ensure strict compliance with the instructions given for the sale and use of fireworks.

This ban will be considered effective from November 9. After November 30, the sale and use of fireworks will be decided based on the state of air pollution.

This time temporary licenses of cracker shops in 12 districts including Lucknow will also not be issued. Instructions have also been given to clamp down on those who illegally sell firecrackers in these districts. Detailed instructions for the sale of green crackers in the remaining districts will also be issued soon.
