Reliance Jio will sell 5G smartphones for Rs 2500-3000. Reliance Jio, the telecom company of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, is set to create a big buzz in the 5G smartphone market. An official of Reliance Jio said that the company is planning to offer 5G smartphones under Rs 5,000. The official said that if further sales increase, its price will be reduced to 2500-3000 thousand rupees. Under this initiative, the company will try to target 200-30 million mobile users currently using 2G connections.

An official of Reliance Jio Company said on condition of anonymity that Jio wants to keep the price of 5G device below Rs 5,000. When we increase sales, it can cost up to Rs 2,500-3,000. Reliance Jio did not respond to emails sent in this regard. Currently, the price of 5G smartphones found in India starts at Rs 27,000. Jio is the first company in India to offer free 4G mobile phones to consumers. Under this, one has to pay 1,500 rupees for live phones, which are refundable.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, spoke at the 43rd Annual General Meeting of the company to make India 2G free (free of 2G connections) and stressed the need for a cheap 5G smartphone. The company is also working on its 5G network equipment and has asked DoT to allocate spectrum for testing these products. The government has not yet decided on the request of Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio has acquired 2.5 million new active subscribers in the month of July, while Airtel and Vodafone Idea have lost 4 lakh and 38 lakh subscribers respectively. On the other hand, the number of overall wireless subscribers of the industry has increased by 35 lakhs. According to TRAI data, the total number of active subscribers has decreased by 21 lakhs in the month of July.
